Dehki is an online marketplace operated by Uptawk, connecting verified Nigerian businesses with buyers across Africa. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

• Name — when you use the WhatsApp contact or call verification system
• Phone number — to enable seller callbacks and verify your identity

• Pages visited and search queries — to improve the marketplace experience
• Cookie identifiers — to remember your verified status and favourites across visits

• ip-api.com — used to detect your country based on IP address for currency display

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To verify your identity before connecting you with sellers via WhatsApp or phone
• To share your contact details with the specific seller you chose to contact
• To remember your preferences, verified status and saved favourites across sessions
• To detect your country and display prices in your local currency
• To send sellers daily and weekly activity reports that include verified buyer contact details
• To analyse usage patterns and improve the platform
• To serve relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
• To detect and prevent spam, fraud and abuse

Dehki uses cookies and browser local storage to enhance your experience. Specifically:

• dehki_v — a session cookie that identifies you as a visitor and stores your verified status. Valid for 1 year.
• dehki_s — a PHP session cookie for managing your active session
• dehki_cur — stores your selected currency preference
• dehki_favs — stored in browser localStorage to remember your favourite products

In addition, Google AdSense uses cookies to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing behaviour across the web. These are third-party cookies managed by Google.

• With Uptawk — as the platform operator, Uptawk has access to all data collected through Dehki
• For legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by Nigerian law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any other third parties.

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy:

• Visitor records (name, phone, email, verified status) — retained indefinitely to enable returning visitor recognition, unless you request deletion
• Activity logs (searches, product views, WhatsApp contacts) — retained for up to 12 months for reporting and analytics
• Session data — cleared when your browser session ends or after 1 year

Dehki contains links to third-party websites and services, including seller WhatsApp numbers, external product references, and advertisements served by Google AdSense.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any external sites you visit through links on Dehki.

Clicking on a WhatsApp button on Dehki will open WhatsApp, which is governed by its own Privacy Policy.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. These measures include:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from Dehki
• Email verification tokens that expire after 1 hour
• Hashed visitor tokens stored as cookies rather than personally identifiable IDs
• Database access restricted to authorised Uptawk systems only
